About the Sports Center

The Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center is situated in the center of Hiroshima city, designed to blend in with the landscape of the lush park that surrounds it.
It is one of Japanfs leading sports venues with facilities including a main arena (Hiroshima Green Arena) accommodating up to 10,000 spectators, a sub arena, judo and archery arenas, and an indoor pool, among others.
The center was one of the venues for the 12th Asian Games (volleyball and gymnastics) in 1994, and for the 51st Hiroshima National Sports Festival (volleyball and archery) in 1996.

The symbol of Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center

The basic design is the H for Hiroshima, rounded to resemble the Green Arena. The shape represents momentum and energy into the future, with the oval to show people coming together, supported by two pillars meaning peace and harmony.
Green is for the gymfs nickname Green Arena and also signifies an oasis in the middle of the city.
